Paint for wooden furniture

Review: IKEA “Albert” shelving unit – Do it yourself!

When IKEA first appeared in Russia, I saw their catalog and was surprised by the number (and indeed the availability) of inexpensive wooden furniture.
Even then, the idea of definitely buying something stuck in my head. I haven’t bought large cupboards or cabinets yet, I started with small things. In winter I liked the rack with the proud name Albert ;).

It is made of untreated wood, pine and spruce (it even smells like wood, such a pleasant smell!).

I’ll start talking about the pros and cons right away. Since the boards that make up the shelving unit are made of untreated wood, it must be coated with varnish or paint. This way it will look prettier and last a long time. I have experience in coating Ikea things with domestic varnish. He's negative. This is how I ruined Ingu’s table. The varnish, although colorless, gave a yellow tint. I didn’t like how it looked (I’ll write a review about it later). It is better to buy wax, oil or stain there in Ikea. The view will be great (I saw it with friends). Ikeans are thoughtful! I decided to paint the rack with matte paint. The paint is ordinary, I left it after the renovation (we painted the walls in the bathroom, so I wasn’t worried about its reliability).

And this is what I got.

Now about the pitfalls. Before painting, it is better to sand the corners of the boards, otherwise there will be troubles like this (photo). In the photo, the rack is covered with paint once and the edges that I wrote about are clearly visible (then these places were sanded and everything became beautiful):

This is what it looked like before painting (sorry, working photos, during renovation):

By the way, I assembled this rack myself. Friends still joke about me
