Features of acrylic paints
Acrylic paint is just over 70 years old, and it has already become one of the most favorite paints among artists, displacing oil and watercolor.
What is acrylic paint? Acrylic is a water-based synthetic paint with the addition of pigments and synthetic resins.
You can paint almost any picture with acrylic. You can also work with acrylic paints on almost all surfaces: canvas, paper, cardboard, wood, iron, fabric, and so on.
It is its versatility that has become one of the features why artists, especially beginners, love this paint so much.
In addition to its versatility, acrylic paint does not have such strong odors as oil paint; it does not need to be diluted with special thinners, which also do not have the best smell.
Another feature of the paint is its water solubility - acrylic washes off very well and is diluted with water. Therefore, if you suddenly stain something in the house with this paint, it will not be difficult to wash it off with water, unlike oil, which seems to never be washed off from the surface.
For the same reason, many parents and teachers choose acrylic painting for very young children - the paint resembles gouache in texture, but is completely safe and easy to use.
As practice has shown, acrylic paints, moreover, do not fade in the sun, do not change their color over time, dry quickly and do not crack. By the way, due to the fact that paints dry quickly and it is better to work with them faster in order to have time to make some adjustments.
By mixing acrylic paints in different proportions, working in different techniques, you can create a picture that can be similar to both oil and watercolor works. Universal paint!
