Finishing features
A fluorophore-based material is a finish that absorbs UV rays and converts them into longer wavelength radiation. In ordinary (daylight, artificial) light, the finish resembles ordinary enamel, only of a brighter shade. When ultraviolet devices (lamps, spotlights) are turned on, the coating glows.

The composition of luminous LCS includes pigments (aminophthalene or rhodamine based) and filler. Fluorescent powder is often mixed with varnish or enamel. Polyurethane resin or acrylic water emulsion is used as binding components.
The substance has 8 basic colors. By mixing, designers obtain a wide tonal palette from delicate lemon to rich purple. There are 2 types of finishing:
- Visible. Initially, the enamel has a tint that intensifies under the influence of UV radiation.
- Invisible. The invisible coating appears under ultraviolet light.
The high reflective effect of fluorescent paints reaches 300%, while the ability of traditional finishes ranges from 75-85%. The material contains no harmful components, which makes the raw material safe. The glow does not accumulate, but lasts throughout the entire operating time of the emitter.

The paint consists of large pigment particles (75 microns). Grainy polymers do not allow you to achieve a smooth coating in one application. To create high-quality light reflection, apply 3 layers of material. Due to thermal instability, raw materials quickly collapse at high temperatures (+100-150 C).

Fluorescent and luminescent paints: what are the differences
Despite the external similarities, both materials have different operating principles. Luminescent paint does not require the constant presence of ultraviolet light. The coating consists of phosphors. Substances adapt well to environmental conditions, maintaining stable chemical and physical characteristics.
For enamel to glow in the dark for 8 hours, 30 minutes of radiation is sufficient. The “charge” is gradually depleted, which leads to a decrease in intensity. Differences between luminescent and fluorescent paints:
- small pigment size (5 microns);
- smooth surface after first application;
- greenish-blue glow;
- service life 30 years.

Luminescent coatings are resistant to frost and humidity. Fluorescent ones are destroyed under the influence of moisture and temperature changes. The high cost of the former is compensated by the duration of operation, the capriciousness and fragility of the latter is compensated by:
- affordable price;
- large selection of shades;
- economical consumption (up to 90 g per m2).
No permits are required to use fluorescent species. To reduce the cost, radioactive materials or phosphorus can be added to luminescent paints. Before purchasing, you need to clarify the availability of documents confirming the absence of hazardous components.

Operating principle
Any object or surface that is painted with luminescent paint begins to glow as evening falls or when the lights are turned off. These dyes are sold in many stores; they can be called fluorescent, phosphor or luminescent dyes.
Throughout the day, when it is light in the room or outside, this paint accumulates light energy, and when it becomes dark, the dye begins to emit the accumulated light. The cyclical nature of this action continues for many years. Glowing paint has such unique properties thanks to special pigments called phosphors. This is a powdery composition that has stable chemical properties; paints are made from this powder. Glowing paints are produced by mixing phosphor with transparent or colored varnish.
Important! The phosphor can be used for 30 years or more. It can be used both for internal, interior finishing work, and for external, facade finishing, outdoors.
Main types
Luminous finishes are distinguished by composition, release form and method of application. When choosing paint, pay attention to the type of surface to be painted and the type of work. There are 5 popular types of raw materials.
Acrylic
The version based on water dispersion is odorless, dries quickly, so can be used indoors. Due to its high resistance to temperature and humidity changes, designers use the material when finishing facades and decorating landscapes. Due to its good adhesion, acrylic paint can be used to cover plastic, metal and concrete, creating original paintings and panels.

Interior enamel
Luminous polyurethane-based finishes are used for indoor painting. Material of different colors is mixed to obtain new shades. Interior fluorescent enamel adheres well to plasterboard sheets, wood and plaster. Due to its increased durability, paint is used for the exterior design of buildings and road markings.

Ink
A substance with a luminous effect is used in interior printing. By type they are available for conventional (laser or inkjet) and wide-format printers. The technology is suitable for the design of apartments, clubs and offices. By applying it, it is easy to obtain an original picture or a hidden inscription that is visible only under an ultraviolet lamp.

Scope of use
Luminescent paint is used in different areas:
- in decorative finishing of restaurants, cafes, night clubs;
- for painting various furniture, for example, chairs, tables, sofas;
- when creating makeup elements, theatrical costumes, and various stage attributes;
- in flower compositions – both artificial and real;
- in the textile industry, for creating designs, logos and other elements on clothing;
- for painting various wooden structures, for example, outdoor gazebos, window frames, exterior items;
- in tuning bicycles, motorcycles and cars;
- in the manufacture of special services clothing;
- in the production of road markings and signs.
Today, luminous paints are often used for decorative decoration of premises. This dye can be applied to walls, ceilings, as drawings or patterns; they will only appear at night when the lights are off. Many designers advise using different colors of luminescent paint to create an original, attractive interior design at home.
How to use
The durability and beauty of the coating depends on the application technology. To ensure that luminous paint does not lose its fluorescent properties, the type of finish and surface characteristics are taken into account. There are rules that apply to all types of raw materials.
Preparatory procedures
Before applying paint, thoroughly clean the area to be painted. The wood is sanded and rough edges are removed from the stone. If there is an old finish (plaster, whitewash), then the remains are removed mechanically. Use a scraper to remove dirt. Use a sponge or cloth with soapy water to wash off dust, grease stains and small particles. You can use washing powder or soda as a solution.
After completing the procedure, wash the surface with a clean liquid and leave to dry. To ensure that the fluorescent paint goes on more evenly, the area is coated with an acrylic primer. The starting finish strengthens weakly bonded areas, improves adhesion and reduces enamel consumption.

Application rules
The technology for using fluorescent paints depends on the form of release. Aerosol types are easy to use. The designer just needs to shake the can and apply the composition to the surface. Stencils are great for creating beautiful, professional images.

Small areas or paintings with a lot of detail are easier to paint with a brush. First mark the contours with a pencil. Small fragments are applied with narrow, thin tools; for large fragments, a wide shaving brush is used. Decorative elements are painted in one direction, then given time to dry and re-painted in the opposite direction.

Paint is applied to large areas using rollers. The raw material is poured into a cuvette in which the instrument is dipped. Gently pass over the surface, trying to apply even pressure. If you need to quickly paint areas, designers recommend taking a spray gun.
The sponge will provide a gradient or unusual texture. The image changes depending on the pressure on the foam. The effect of Venetian plaster will be created by twisting dry fabric. The material is fixed on a roller, dipped into a fluorescent emulsion and slowly passed over the surface. The type of pattern depends on the hardness and stiffness of the rag. The decor is secured on top with varnish.

How to choose glowing paint
Many of you are encountering luminous paint for the first time. The goals and objectives of its use may be different for everyone. We will try to make it easier for you to choose luminous paint, tell you about its differences and possible methods of application for your tasks.We produce and sell more than 100 types of our glowing paint! When choosing a luminous paint, first of all you need to start from the main basic differences in the type of glow. Glowing paint is divided according to the type of glow, and there are: luminescent, fluorescent, and luminescent-fluorescent. Separately, there is reflective paint, as well as invisible paint that changes color in the sun or in ultraviolet light.
Photo 1. We produce more than 100 types of luminous paints with different glow colors.
Luminescent glow paint
Luminescent paint accumulates light from any light and heat sources, and glows in the dark for up to 12-18 hours, with gradual attenuation. The charge-discharge cycle of this paint is endless, and does not become outdated over the years.
This paint is interesting because it can accumulate light quite quickly (sometimes in a few seconds, like “super-bright”). The fastest charge comes from sunlight or ultraviolet lamps. It also accumulates light from incandescent lamps well (about 10-30 minutes). It is interesting because even in complete darkness it can only be charged from a heat source. For example, if you cover a heating radiator with this paint (which is hot, usually in winter), the paint will glow indefinitely and brightly. The heating radiator will serve as an extraordinary night light for you!
Luminescent paint is acrylic based AKRIL. It is absolutely safe for humans and plants. Has no smell. Ideal for: body painting, fresh flowers, silk-screen printing, application on paper, cardboard, plastered ceilings and walls, wallpaper of all types, ideal for children's creativity. It is afraid of water and does not like wet cleaning, since it is water-based.
Luminescent paint NITRO has a slight odor when working with it, but after drying there is no smell after 15-20 minutes. It is recommended that she work indoors. Ideal for: wood, cardboard, plasterboard, stone, concrete, plastic and some types of wallpaper.
Photo 2. The glow of charged luminescent paint is clearly visible even in room lighting.
Heat-resistant luminescent paint PRO is considered the brightest and most versatile paint. It can be applied to absolutely any materials, and is ideal: for metal (discs and calipers), concrete (paving slabs), glass, ceramics, natural stone, brick and wood. Feels great outdoors in any weather. Not afraid of water, friction, temperature changes and aggressive environments. This paint features a longer lasting glow of up to 18 hours, and also charges the fastest of all fluorescent paints (in seconds from a bright light source).
Photo 3. The motorcycle is painted with PRO super-bright heat-resistant luminescent paint No. 2 (blue glow).
Luminescent paint can be either completely invisible during the day or visible during the day with a glow of all the colors of the rainbow. Invisible luminous paint is interesting because in daylight it is completely invisible on any surface, but in the dark it manifests itself to the fullest!

Fluorescent glow paint
Fluorescent paint glows only under ultraviolet light, the light of UV lamps. At the same time, the glow is infinitely long and bright as long as the ultraviolet lamp is on.
This paint is often used in interior design by designers and artists. Allows you to create both visible during the day and completely invisible paintings, and solutions that come to life under UV light of lamps. Invisible fluorescent paint AKRIL-INVISIBLE and PRO-INVISIBLE differs from all fluorescent paints in that it has absolutely no daytime color and is absolutely invisible on any surface.
Also for different purposes and tasks there is acrylic, nitrate based, as well as heat-resistant fluorescent paint. The latter is usually used in the design of the exterior of premises, since it is well applied and adheres to absolutely any materials.

Luminescent fluorescent glow paint
Luminescent-fluorescent paint is the most universal because it has two types of glow at once: it glows on its own in the dark with gradual attenuation, charging from any light sources, and also indefinitely and brightly under ultraviolet light from lamps. It is worth noting that ultraviolet light is the most favorable for quickly charging the luminescent component of this paint. This means that after you turn off the ultraviolet lamp, you will receive the brightest and most intense glow of the luminescent paint layer, with attenuation in the dark for up to 12 hours.
Photo 6. The photo shows a selection of colors of luminescent-fluorescent paint.
This paint is widely used in both interior and exterior design. For outdoor (landscape design) PRO heat-resistant fluorescent-fluorescent paint is recommended. Because, as described above, it is not afraid of water, friction, sudden temperature changes and aggressive environments. It has dust and water repellent properties, and if used on metal, it also protects it from corrosion.
Reflective paint
Designed for tasks where it is necessary to reflect bright or not very bright light. This creates a short-term glow of the surface with the same brightness (or several times greater) with which the light source shone on it, but in most cases increasing the brightness of the glow several times.
Photo 7. Deer antlers are covered with reflective luminous paint.
We produce this paint in ready-to-use liquid form. Reflective paint can reflect light over long distances depending on the brightness of the directional light. Water-based reflective paint AKRIL, recommended for indoor work: fabric, wood, cardboard, paper, stone. Reflective paint PRO is the brightest reflective paint for any materials: metal, glass, stone, concrete, plastic, wood, fabric, etc., for outdoor use. PRO coating is not afraid of friction, water, aggressive environments and temperature changes!
PRO reflective paint is available in transparent, white, yellow, blue, green, orange, pink, red, purple. Non-transparent, colors visible during the day, can not only reflect light in a given color, but also glow in ultraviolet light. There are no analogues in Russia or other countries around the world.
Reflective paint is used to mark road markings, fencing items that make them easier to see when parking cars at night, in outdoor advertising for the effective visibility of roadside signs, but also in many other cases where your imagination dictates the use of this paint.
There is PRO reflective luminescent paint - it reflects light from any light sources, and also glows on its own in the dark for up to 12 hours (Two types of glow). Reflective luminescent-fluorescent paint PRO - glows on its own in the dark for up to 12 hours, reflects directional light, and glows infinitely long and brightly in ultraviolet light (Three types of glow)! The charge-discharge function does not become obsolete for up to 100 years.
Invisible paint that changes color. Invisible paint
This paint is absolutely invisible on any surface. INVISIBLE series. When exposed to sunlight, the surface painted with this paint changes color in a matter of seconds. For example, your wall is initially yellow, but in the sun it will turn pink. Once the sunlight stops shining, the wall will also quickly return to its original color.
Very interesting effects are obtained when using our Heat-resistant invisible paint PRO. When applied to gray featureless paving slabs, you can create magical pedestrian paths that, in sunlight, are painted in a given initially invisible bright color. And in cloudy weather they become gray and faceless again. This paint is not afraid of water and aggressive environments, and protects the surface from external influences.
Several changeable colors are available, but when dyeing, only one "invisible" color is set. When applied to a pre-painted surface, its color does not change, but when exposed to sunlight, there is an almost abrupt change in color.
Invisible ink for seals and stamps is also available. When such a stamp is applied to paper, it will only be visible when illuminated with ultraviolet light. This paint is also used at private parties, when a sign or seal is applied to a person’s skin, visible only under UV light. These paints are washed off with water and do not cause any harm.
Water washable spray paint WATERPRO
This is a type of rich fluorescent paint that can be applied to leather, fabric, cars, glass and any other materials and surfaces. After which they are easily washed off with water and a sponge, and do not damage the original surface and do not leave any marks on it.
Photo 8. The car is painted with WATERPRO easily washable paint.
As a rule, this paint is used at parties, all kinds of practical jokes, weddings, folk festivals, for shows in clubs, for incredible body painting, for inscriptions and drawings on cars. They leave a lot of impressions and no side effects.
WATERPRO spray paint also glows very well under ultraviolet light. Has all the basic colors of the rainbow, plus a few extra ones.
