Tile adhesive Kreps Reinforced 25 kg – features, application and reviews

Features and Pros

The Kreps company produces compositions for various types of materials, in particular for ceramics, stone, porcelain stoneware. Among the products there is Kreps Reinforced glue. The latter has features that allow it to be used when other formulations are contraindicated.

What is the difference between the substance Kreps labeled Reinforced:

  • When finishing, there is no sliding from the walls.
  • Used for the outside of fireplaces.
  • Hardens quickly.
  • It is used economically.
  • Suitable for heated floors.
  • Has increased strength.
  • Adheses well to a number of materials.

Kreps glue is a dry composition. Consists of sand, cement, plasticizers, and modifying additives. The particle size is 0.63 mm.

Preparation is carried out by mixing with liquid in a given proportion. When properly prepared, a viscous mixture is obtained with a strength of M 75, adhesion of 1 MPa, and frost resistance of 35 cycles.

The parameters of glue marked Reinforced are much higher than those of Standard. The latter is good for use with standard ceramic cladding. The reinforced composition allows you to extend the operating time to 20 minutes, during which you can correct the position of the slabs. What is important for this composition is minimal slipping - no more than 5 mm.

Reference! Kreps Reinforced can withstand a wider temperature range, which makes it possible to use it outside and for working with heated floors. You can buy glue in packages of 5 and 25 kg.

The advantages of the adhesive composition include:

  • Frost resistance - the composition can withstand low and relatively high temperatures. The mixture can be safely used for fireplaces, as well as for outdoor cladding.
  • Application for facade buildings.
  • Minimum material consumption.
  • Application at temperatures from +5.
  • Increased moisture resistance. The glue will dry normally even at high humidity. He is not afraid of vapors and liquids. Therefore, it can be used for the bathroom when tiling the floor and walls.

Considering the disadvantages of the product, it should be noted that when working with it you must strictly follow the instructions; minimal experience in working with such mixtures is important. If you don’t have the skills, it’s better to contact a specialist, otherwise the result may not please you.

It is necessary to control the amount of mixture used, uniformity of application, and layer thickness. This is especially true for laying large tiles. If there is not enough glue, the cladding may fall off over time.

Reference! The improved composition can be used for finishing in conditions with high humidity.

Some Kreps products include antifreeze and fire-resistant components, which increases service life, strength and overall properties.

Preparation of the solution

Preparation involves taking about 6 liters of water for 25 kilograms of the mixture. Use a mixer with low speed, or mix everything by hand. You need to let the composition sit for 10 minutes, then repeat the mixing procedure. In a dry place on a stand, the material can be stored for up to 12 months, using only the original packaging.

Use a mixer with low speed, or mix everything by hand.

Application

Before starting work, you need to prepare the foundation. It should be smooth and not subject to deformation changes. The surface is first cleaned of dirt, dust, grease, and old compounds. It is important to degrease using special products containing alcohol.

Reference! For better adhesion, it is also recommended to prime with a mixture of Kreps Primer. Substrates that strongly absorb moisture must be treated twice.

The glue is applied to the base, then leveled with a notched spatula. The tiles must be laid within 20 minutes; after this period the glue becomes unusable. Complete hardening occurs within 24 hours, after which the surface can be loaded.

After finishing work, you can wash all tools with water. However, it should be noted that this liquid cannot be used to prepare a new batch of glue.

When working with glue, you need to use protective equipment to prevent the glue from getting on your skin and into your respiratory tract. If the composition does get on unprotected areas of the body, you need to rinse them under running water.

Tile adhesive Kreps Reinforced 25 kg

Kreps Reinforced tile adhesive is a mixture of cement and fine-grained sand with special additives. It is diluted with water and forms a plastic mixture with high adhesion to the base. Used for gluing ceramic tiles, porcelain stoneware, as well as artificial stone onto cement, dry reinforced concrete and concrete bases, cellular concrete, plasterboard, tongue-and-groove and gypsum boards.

Reinforced creps are ideal for interior and exterior finishing work. When modifying the solution with the antifreeze additive Kreps Antifreeze, work can be carried out at air temperatures down to -10°C. The main physical properties of the mixture are water resistance and frost resistance. When carrying out external work, porcelain stoneware tiles should be laid on horizontal bases or on vertical surfaces of small height. These include parapets, staircase friezes, building plinths. If the thickness of the tiles for external cladding exceeds 8 mm, the size is 40x40 cm, and the installation height is 1 meter, then the tiles must be additionally secured to the base mechanically!

The preparation of Kreps reinforced glue is carried out as follows: a bag of dry mixture is dissolved in six liters of water (mixture in water) and mixed mechanically (professional mixer) or manually until a homogeneous solution is obtained.

Application of the prepared Kreps reinforced adhesive solution must be carried out on prepared substrates. It must be strong and even, not subject to deformation or shrinkage. Before application, the base should be cleaned of dirt, dust, grease, oil and bitumen and, if necessary, treated with Kreps Primer. The glue is applied to the base with a notched trowel. Ceramic tiles are laid on the adhesive layer within 20 minutes.

If Kreps reinforced is used to cover the floor with large tiles, the solution must be applied to both the tiles and the base. During the day, the cladding should not be exposed to water, mechanical stress, or grouting of joints.

Recommendations: apply only using personal protective equipment, avoiding contact of the mixture with the skin and respiratory tract. In case of contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.

Useful tips

To work with glue efficiently, you need to listen to the advice of professionals:

  • After the main stage of work, you need to wait at least 48 hours for the walls, but for the floor you will have to wait 72 hours until the composition completely hardens; loading the surface earlier and starting grouting is highly not recommended.
  • The larger the tile size, the larger the trowel teeth are needed for leveling. For example, for a 15x15 cladding, a length of 6 mm is suitable, but for a 30x30 material, 8 mm is already needed.
  • When applying glue, you need to monitor the thickness of the layer. The optimal size would be up to 4 mm. When the cladding is more than 30x30, the layer should be larger - 7 mm. When finishing the floor, you can make the layer even thicker - 9 mm. However, in any case, the material must be applied evenly over the entire surface. For convenience, a level is used.
  • When working with glue, you must follow safety precautions. It is important to use protective equipment in the form of gloves and a mask. Sleeves should be long to avoid exposed skin.

Work should not be carried out at sub-zero temperatures. The optimal indicator would be +5 degrees, but you can start from zero. It is best to use a notched trowel for application, so as not to further level the surface with other tools. The base on which the product is applied must be flat and not subject to deformation or shrinkage.

Do not step on the floor immediately after finishing. You need to wait a certain time for the glue to dry completely. While drying is taking place, the surface must not be washed, that is, contact with liquids and mechanical factors must be avoided.

Reference! It is necessary to fix the tiles as soon as possible after applying the product, without waiting until a few minutes remain before the glue becomes unusable.

Reviews

Kreps adhesive labeled Reinforced has long become popular among professionals and amateurs. It receives many positive reviews, which note the ease of use of the composition and its quality. What is especially good is the low level of glue slipping from the walls, which is inherent in many adhesive mixtures. It can be used without problems even on heavy cladding materials.

Why is Reinforced glue better than standard:

  • Conventional products do not have sufficient parameters for further use of the surface under extreme conditions.
  • Glue with average moisture resistance and frost resistance deteriorates much faster, and it is also subject to deformation changes.
  • When using standard heated floor adhesive, cracks appear after just a couple of heating cycles, and the tiles are susceptible to expansion under the influence of high temperature. If you use special glue, this problem does not arise.

Reference! Special formulations also contain fire-resistant and many other additives that make them much better. Ordinary glue cannot withstand the conditions that would be familiar to a reinforced composition.

It is also important that they respond well to the use of the finished coating. Creps copes with its task even under conditions of constant high humidity.

Consumer review:

“I changed the tiles in the bathroom twice, and all because I used regular tile adhesive. It’s good that when I next purchased the product, I came across a consultant who explained why it is better to choose a special adhesive composition. Having received important information, I bought Kreps Reinforced, with which not a single tile has been damaged for many years.”

The combination of quality and cost is another point that does not go unnoticed. Kreps glue can easily be found on the shelves of construction stores in bags of 5 and 25 kg.
